Add value before you ask

You have a friend that calls once a week. Every time he calls, you groan. You know that no matter what, he wants something from you. ⁣

You take the call. He calls again the next week and you dodge the call. ⁣

He calls again next week and you feel obligated to pick up the phone. Another request. ⁣

The next week he disguises it a little better by making a few jokes at the beginning of the call. You know what's coming. Sure enough, he needs something from you again. ⁣

⁣You don't block his call, but you don't look forward to hearing from him either. ⁣

This is how your customer feels about your marketing when you don't provide them value before asking them to use your services. Add value to your customer's life. Figure out how you can help them. Serve them. Make them want to hear from you.
